Eighth Doctor Adventures
In 1997 the BBC did not renew the licence held by Virgin Publishing under which it published the Missing Adventures (MA) and New Adventures (NA) series. Following the television movie that introduced the eighth Doctor, the BBC chose to establish its own series.
Because many of the authors who wrote novels for Virgin's New Adventures series were still writing Doctor Who stories under the new label, the Eighth Doctor Adventures books can be viewed as a continuation of the New Adventures series.
The Eighth Doctor Adventures series was published from 1997 until 2005 and comprises 73 books.
When the new television series was revived, the Eighth Doctor Adventures series was discontinued in favour of the Doctor Who: New Series Adventures books.
